The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat by Eugene Field

Nancy Castille

When I was a child, I had a book called "The Tall Book of Make Believe". It was filled with delightful poems, stories, and pictures. It was always my absolute favorite book. One day, while perusing the shelves of a bookstore, I saw that same book and purchased it out of nostalgia. Now that my niece and nephew have children of their own, I had the idea to make a "show" out of one of the poems from the book that had always been my favorite, "The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat". I have developed a style of art I call "E-quilting" which uses scans of fabric and combines it with Photoshop. I combined each individual picture into a movie in iMovie and added narration.

I find the whole project rather amusing. I am under no delusion that I am a great artist. And yet the art keeps coming out of me. I hope you get a chuckle or two out of watching this little video as well.
